Die Casting Capabilities

High-Pressure Die Casting (HPDC)

  • Machine range: 80T to 3,000T clamping force
  • Part weight: 5g to 15kg
  • Wall thickness: 0.8mm minimum
  • Cycle time: 30–90 seconds typical
  • Equipment: Toshiba, L.K., Bühler, Toyo

Gravity Die Casting

  • Part weight: up to 50kg
  • Superior mechanical properties vs HPDC
  • Heat-treatable (T6 temper)
  • Lower porosity for pressure-tight parts
  • Ideal for lower volume / structural parts

Low-Pressure Die Casting (LPDC)

  • Excellent for symmetrical/rotational parts
  • Minimal porosity and shrinkage
  • High material yield (90%+)
  • Wheels, valve bodies, impellers

Secondary Operations

  • CNC machining of critical features
  • Shot blasting, tumbling, vibratory finishing
  • Anodizing, powder coating, plating, painting
  • Leak testing, X-ray inspection, impregnation
  • Assembly, insert pressing, heat treatment

Die Casting Materials

Aluminum Alloys

A380 · A383 · A360 · ADC12 · AlSi10Mg · AlSi9Cu3 · 6061 (gravity cast)

Most popular: A380 (general purpose), ADC12 (automotive), A360 (corrosion resistance)

Zinc Alloys

Zamak 3 · Zamak 5 · Zamak 7 · ZA-8 · ZA-12 · ZA-27

Best for: Small precision parts, thin walls (0.4mm), excellent surface finish

Magnesium Alloys

AZ91D · AM60B · AM50A · AE44

Best for: Lightweight parts (33% lighter than aluminum), EMI shielding

Why Source Die Castings from Vietnam?

Vietnam has become a die casting powerhouse — with Japanese-invested foundries, world-class equipment, and zero Section 301 tariffs.

💰

40–60% Lower Cost Than US

Lower labor, energy, and overhead costs translate directly to lower piece prices. Tooling costs are 50–70% less than US die shops.

🛡️

Zero China Tariffs

Chinese die castings face 25%+ Section 301 tariffs. Vietnamese castings enter the US at standard MFN rates — saving you thousands per shipment.

🇯🇵

Japanese-Invested Foundries

Many Vietnam die casting companies are Japanese joint ventures or trained by Japanese engineers — bringing Toyota-level quality systems and discipline.

Die Casting FAQ

What die casting processes do you offer?
High-pressure die casting (HPDC), gravity die casting, low-pressure die casting (LPDC), and squeeze casting. Our Vietnam foundries run machines from 80T to 3,000T clamping force, handling parts from a few grams to 15+ kg.
What materials can you die cast?
Aluminum alloys (A380, A383, A360, ADC12, AlSi10Mg, 6061), Zinc alloys (Zamak 3, Zamak 5, ZA-8), and Magnesium alloys (AZ91D, AM60B). Aluminum accounts for ~80% of our die casting work.
What tolerances can you hold on die cast parts?
Standard HPDC tolerances are ±0.1mm for dimensions under 25mm, scaling to ±0.3mm for dimensions up to 300mm. For tighter tolerances, we CNC machine critical features after casting — many of our foundries have in-house CNC departments.
Can you handle die/mold making too?
Yes. Most of our die casting partners have in-house tool shops for mold design and manufacturing. Typical die lead time is 4–6 weeks for a single-cavity HPDC mold. We also offer mold modifications and maintenance.
What surface finishes are available for die cast parts?
Shot blasting, tumbling, vibratory finishing, anodizing (Type II and III), powder coating, chrome plating, nickel plating, e-coating, painting, and polishing. Many finishes are done in-house at the same factory.
What's the minimum order quantity for die casting?
For new tooling projects, we recommend MOQ of 500+ pieces to amortize die costs. For existing dies, there's no practical MOQ — we run orders as small as 100 pieces. Tooling costs typically range from $3,000–$25,000 depending on complexity.
How do die casting costs in Vietnam compare to China?
Vietnam die casting is 10–20% cheaper than China before tariffs. Factor in China's 25% Section 301 tariffs on cast parts, and the gap widens to 35–45%. Vietnamese foundries use the same Toshiba, L.K., and Bühler machines as Chinese competitors.
Do you offer secondary machining on die cast parts?
Absolutely. Most of our foundries have in-house CNC departments for drilling, tapping, milling, and turning critical features. We also handle assembly, insert pressing, leak testing, and impregnation.
