Injection Molding FAQ

What types of injection molding do you offer?
Thermoplastic injection molding, overmolding (2-shot and insert molding), rubber injection molding, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) molding, and gas-assist molding. Our Vietnam factories run machines from 50T to 2,500T clamping force.
What plastics can you mold?
ABS, PC, PC/ABS, PA6, PA66, POM (Delrin), PP, PE, PMMA (acrylic), PBT, PPS, PEEK, TPE, TPU, silicone, and more. We source resins from approved brands including SABIC, DuPont, BASF, LG Chem, and local equivalents where appropriate.
What tolerances can you hold?
Standard tolerances per SPI/DIN: ±0.05mm for dimensions under 50mm, ±0.1mm for 50–150mm. For tighter tolerances, we use precision molds with hardened inserts and controlled process parameters. Critical dimensions are 100% inspected.
How long does tooling take?
Simple single-cavity molds: 3–4 weeks. Complex multi-cavity production molds: 5–8 weeks. We provide T1 samples with dimensional reports for approval before production. Mold steel options include P20, H13, NAK80, S136, and 718H.
What's the minimum order quantity?
For new mold projects, we recommend 1,000+ pieces to justify tooling investment. For existing molds, runs as low as 500 pieces are feasible. Prototype/bridge tooling in aluminum is available for 100–500 piece runs at lower mold cost.
Can you handle secondary operations?
Yes — pad printing, hot stamping, ultrasonic welding, heat staking, insert pressing, assembly, painting, plating (chrome, nickel), texture etching (VDI/Mold-Tech), and full packaging. Many factories do these in-house.
How do costs compare to China?
Vietnam injection molding is 10–20% cheaper than China before tariffs. With China's 25% Section 301 tariffs on plastic parts, the effective savings are 35–45%. Tooling costs in Vietnam are 40–60% less than US mold shops.
Do you offer mold maintenance and engineering changes?
