Extrusion Alloys

6063 (Most Popular)

Excellent extrudability, good surface finish, moderate strength. Ideal for architectural, decorative, and general-purpose profiles.

Tempers: T5, T6 · UTS: 215–245 MPa

6061 (Structural)

Higher strength, excellent corrosion resistance, good machinability. The workhorse alloy for structural and mechanical applications.

Tempers: T4, T6, T651 · UTS: 290–310 MPa

6082 (High Strength)

Highest strength in the 6000 series. Excellent for structural applications in transport, bridges, and cranes.

Tempers: T4, T6 · UTS: 310–340 MPa

6005A (Rail & Transport)

Good extrudability with higher strength than 6063. Widely used in rail car bodies, truck frames, and transport containers.

Tempers: T1, T5, T6 · UTS: 260–290 MPa

7075 (Aerospace)

Ultra-high strength aluminum. Limited extrudability but available for simple solid profiles. Used where strength-to-weight is critical.

Tempers: T6, T651, T73 · UTS: 510–570 MPa

7005 (Sporting Goods)

Better extrudability than 7075 with good strength. Popular for bicycle frames, sports equipment, and lightweight structures.

Tempers: T5, T6, T53 · UTS: 350–395 MPa

Why Source Extrusions from Vietnam?

Vietnam's aluminum extrusion industry has grown 300% in the last decade — with modern presses, integrated finishing lines, and zero tariff barriers.

💰

40–55% Lower Cost Than US

Lower labor, energy, and billet costs. Die costs are 60–80% less than US die shops. Integrated finishing means no middlemen markups.

🛡️

Zero China Tariffs

Chinese aluminum extrusions face 25% Section 301 tariffs plus anti-dumping duties (up to 374%). Vietnamese extrusions enter at standard MFN rates.

Aluminum Extrusion FAQ

What aluminum alloys do you extrude?
We work with 6000 series (6061, 6063, 6082, 6005A) and 7000 series (7075, 7005) alloys. 6063-T5 is the most popular for architectural and general-purpose profiles. 6061-T6 for structural applications requiring higher strength.
What size profiles can you extrude?
Our Vietnam extrusion partners have presses from 600T to 7,500T, handling profile circumscribing circle diameters from 10mm up to 350mm. Wall thickness from 0.8mm minimum (6063) to 1.2mm minimum (6061). Maximum profile length up to 12m.
What tolerances can you hold on extruded profiles?
Standard tolerances per EN 755-9 / ASTM B221: ±0.1mm on wall thickness, ±0.15mm on cross-section dimensions under 25mm, scaling proportionally for larger sections. Tighter tolerances available with post-extrusion CNC machining.
Can you handle custom die design?
Yes. Our extrusion partners have in-house die shops for designing and manufacturing extrusion dies. Simple solid dies take 5–10 days; semi-hollow and hollow dies take 10–15 days. Die costs range from $300 for simple solid profiles to $3,000+ for complex hollow sections.
What surface finishes are available?
Mill finish, anodizing (clear, black, bronze, champagne, custom colors), powder coating (RAL colors), wood grain transfer, electrophoresis, polishing, brushing, and sandblasting. Anodizing thicknesses from 5µm (architectural) to 25µm (hard anodize).
What secondary fabrication do you offer?
CNC machining (milling, drilling, tapping), sawing to length, punching, bending, welding (TIG/MIG), assembly, and thermal break insertion for window/door profiles. Most operations done in-house at the extrusion facility.
How does Vietnam extrusion pricing compare to China?
Vietnam aluminum extrusion is 10–15% cheaper than China before tariffs. With China's 25% Section 301 tariffs on aluminum products, the total savings reach 35–40%. Vietnam also benefits from lower energy costs and competitive billet pricing.
What's the typical lead time and MOQ?
New die: 5–15 days. First production run: 2–3 weeks after die approval. MOQ is typically 500kg per alloy/temper combination (roughly 200–500 pieces depending on profile weight). For existing dies, we can run as low as 200kg.
